American Songwriter: Tribute to Bob Dylan

In the history of American popular music, few songwriters can be mentioned in the same breath as the mystical, mercurial tunesmith known to the world as....Bob Dylan.  As a recent recipient of the prestigious Nobel Prize for his contributions to the American songbook, the Cactus joins in the salute with this ALL NEW concert in celebration of this noteworthy achievement.

From his humble beginnings in Hibbing, Minnesota...to the coffeehouses of Greenwich Village in New York City....to his signing by legendary talent scout John Hammond at Columbia Records....his songs spoke to a whole generation coming of age in the 1960s.  To the world, he was the unofficial voice of a whole new folk movement...carrying forth the legacy of his personal hero and the voice of a previous generation - Woody Guthrie.

In addition to his own monumental recording output, Bob Dylan's catalog of compositions has been mined by hundreds of artists for the past half century - producing some of the most well-known and best-loved classics along the way.  Now, the Cactus Theater pays tribute to the man and his music in this ALL NEW production - featuring many of Lubbock's greatest vocal talents.  You'll hear classics from all phases of Bob Dylan's immeasurable catalog - from the early classics like "Blowin' In The Wind" and "Mr. Tambourine Man" through "Gotta Serve Somedody" and "To Make You Feel My Love" and many more....you"ll relish the artistry of the performers and the genius of the songwriter.  Join us in this special presentation as we honor the one and only BOB DYLAN.

This will be an evening to remember as our powerhouse lineup of confirmed vocalists includes many of Lubbock's very best: Jason Fellers, Gypsy Jane, Junior Vasquez, Amber Pennington, Ryan Garza and more!
