CARMAN – with over 10 million record sales, 13 gold and platinum CDs and videos – remains to this day, gospel music’s only stadium act.  He holds the world record for the largest solo concerts: 80,000 outdoors and 71,132 indoors.  He’s collected the most names of any American citizen for petition to return prayer to public schools and has won over 1 million people to Christ.

An Italian-American, Carman was born in Trenton, NJ, and spent his formative years in military school before setting out to be a boxer.  In 1976, his life course was changed at an Andraé Crouch concert – and he soon began to write songs that would forever alter generations of gospel songwriters.  Carman defied description – consistently operating outside the box of Christian music while innovating new and fresh ways to present the message. 

With 35 music videos, he reinvented the genre of the visual arts in Christian music - and introduced dance as an art form within the church.  His contributions to drama, dance and acting are historic and he has appeared in three feature-length films.  Carman remains what is best described as a cultural phenomenon and a true, American original.
