Fundraising Event Benefits Historic Cactus Theater Marquee Upgrade
Actor Barry Corbin has appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows over the past 40 years. Legions of fans remember him early on in Lonesome Dove and Northern Exposure. And his career is still going strong with roles most recently in The Ranch, Yellowstone and Tulsa Kings.
Before he made his first on-screen appearance in Urban Cowboy, Barry had already acted in theater for over 20 years. He started off performing on stages in Lubbock, Texas, where he grew up - and eventually acting in plays all along the East Coast. Corbin was known as a classically-trained Shakespearean actor.
Barry’s Texas heritage goes way back - with his family always encouraging his education and success. His mother LaMerle was a school teacher and his father, Kilmer Blaine Corbin, was a school principal, judge and state senator. He served two terms in the Texas State Senate from 1949 to 1957.
For this very special event - An Evening with Barry Corbin - the lovable Lubbock icon has put together a presentation which is a celebration of his personal and professional life. It includes photos from some of his most cherished moments. The event is highly interactive with Corbin taking questions from the audience.
At the conclusion of the show, he’ll take photos with audience members and sign autographs.
Welcome home one of Lubbock's living legends - a member of the West Texas Walk of Fame and a genuine Texas treasure for this evening of memories and magic - as only Barry Corbin can create it. And on top of that, the event benefits the marquee upgrade project for the front of Cactus Theater - a bonafide local landmark!
