Gender Adventures: Silent Film Festival featuring guest speakers Laura Horak and Maggie Hennefeld

Laura Horak is Professor of Film Studies at Carleton University and Maggie Hennefeld is Professor of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. They are experts in women in early film history and are co-curators of Cinema's First Nasty Women, a collection of silent films featuring comediennes, action stars, and stories that challenge gender norms and stereotypes. They will host a screening and discussion of Gender Adventures, a program of films from 1910-1926, from the Old West to the (now not so) distant future, where women take center stage.
